This is a very japanese style game, similar in production to the final fantasy games. Square Enix are the developers, and its said they used a similar engine for the designs. Yoshinori Yamagishi, the head producer, is known for making each new game feel brand new, not just a slight vartion of his last release. People close to the producer say he's basically obessed with starting fresh. He does a good job at this, as "Star ocean: second evolution" features totally new levels, characters, artwork, and ideas. He is currently putting together some new psp games while living in Japan.
