It was the year 2004, we heard the playstation portable system was to be released by Sony Entertainment. First it was available in Japan, and finally reached North America in 2005. This was groundbreaking technology, the first gaming console which uses a new type of disc for storing information, known as a Universal Memory Disc. You can just compare free psp games with classic nintendo gameboy games, and you can see the big difference. The playstation portable features a large viewing screen, it can be connected to the internet, and its compatible with the PS3, making it a versatile gaming experience.
Much to the surprise of Sony entertainment, the Nintendo DS system did much better in the gaming marketplace, that is until the Slim and Lite versions of the playstation portable were released. This brought down the weight nearly 50%, and gamers seemed to enjoyed the portability factor, being able to fit the psp console into their pocket safely. The PSP sold 500,000 units the first day of release, despite the fact it was $100 dollars more expensive then the biggest competitor, the Nintendo DS.
Currently the playstation portable is available in 11 colors, my favorite being the classic black. May 2009 a new version of the PSP hit the shelves, boasting new Bluetooth functionality, reduced size and weight, containing 16GB of flash memory, very handy for storing plenty of games and music. We still download psp games from the playstation store, straight to the device.

What does the future have in store for psp video gaming? Better graphics, gameplay, and more unique multiplayer options. Looks like nintendo and sony will continue to battle it out for control of the gaming marketplace. I have to say, that I do favor the psp and think its great. The graphics and sound quality is really good, as they built in speakers are really great audio quality. What nintendo has though, is a built in microphone with the DS, which is impressive.
I hpoe you enjoy my great free psp game reviews, I have chosen the most popular playstation games based on sales.
